If you are owner or buying a Homeowner’s Complete Guide chainsaw which you propose to use, then you should own this book. Read the book page to page before you even using the saw out of the packaging. You will be able to handle that chainsaw with confidence and safety in mind after you complete the book. It covers everything you need to know about using and maintaining a chainsaw with safety as the number one priority. This is an exceptionally and colossally well illustrated book on the
fundamentals of safe operation, safety equipment, cutting techniques, and maintenance. Anyone new to chainsawing will get benefit from this book before using a chainsaw for the first time – and have it handy on the first several days of chainsawing. Now think of the price of a visit to the emergency room when you didn’t think of the other things first. The author is concentrating throughout the book on safety.
Very readable and approachable book for beginners – and good reminders for the experienced. This book gives a comprehensive introduction about chainsaw handling, cutting techniques and maintenance. It also covers different jobs as tree felling, limbing and firewood cutting. For the experienced user it does not provide not much new information, but I have the feeling the authors did not have this user group in mind when writing this book.

Many practical chapters that the homeowner would encounter as a chainsaw project from felling small trees on up to a large one. Author Brian J. Ruth emphasizes safety from chapter one and the need PPE (Personal protective equipment) one should have.
This book provides an excellent overview of how to choose, maintain and operate a chainsaw in a safe and responsible manner. If you are new to using a chainsaw, this is essential reading. Whatever your using experience or consider yourself an expert at felling larger trees-this book is organized with great instructions with photos regarding proper use of equipment (including wedges, pull cables, etc)
The chainsaw maintenance guidelines are very useful too. You will find the text instructions provide a great narrative with extremely well done photographs. In many cases the photos are step-by-step, sharp, vibrant and just very well
done. They are also fairly generic and applicable to most brands. This author also clarify briefly a few other types of related equipment (like pole saws), but the focus here is rounded on chainsaws – so do not expect any other outdoor cutting equipment to get the same lavish treatment.
Be aware, a chainsaw is a dangerous tool and you can never have too much education when your life or the lives of those around you are at stake. Many accidents occurs during the wood job, injuries are sometimes fatal even life risk matter. This book covers how to safely cut down trees and use a chainsaw. It’s good for beginners and experts alike. You won’t regret reading this book. The author here outlines safety precautions and why some practices are dangerous and how to avoid some of the most common mistakes when it comes to operating a chainsaw. The book is necessary and HANDY to learn how to use a chainsaw if you don’t know how.
